Growth, proposed development, visioning (is that a word?) are always big topics in covering a city.
How do boosters envision the city in the future, what are their dreams for the locale? Dreaming aside, what new development is actually coming in?
A couple recent stories fit into that category, on a trio of auto tire shops taking shape and the vision (far off in the future) for the area around a cluster of hotels near the Indiana Toll Road:
- “Elkhart boosters dream of turning North Pointe Plaza area into ‘destination’ for toll road motorists”: Who knows if it’ll ever happen, but officials dream, and sometimes portions, at least, of their visions turn into reality. So it’s worth paying attention.
- “Elkhart motorists will soon have three new tire and service options — Monteith’s, Belle Tire, Star Tire”: Not, on the surface, necessarily the most exciting story in the world. But it tells the reader about the construction they may have noticed traveling Cassopolis and Main streets, where the new businesses are taking shape. I know I’m always curious when I see a new building taking shape, wondering what it is.
